Day 15 Virgin Diet: Feeling under the weather and no comfort food to be had!

I had gone to bed feeling a bit dehydrated and woke up with a splitting headache.  On a Sunday morning when I wasn’t abstaining from alcohol that would have been a clear indication I had too much alcohol the night before, which sadly with my metabolism can be as little as three beers sometimes.  I tried nursing it off but to no avail, so I just kept trying some nourishment to fill in the gaps and lots of water/seltzer trying to fight it down.

I woke up a bit late and was really dragging in the morning.  By the time I actually got my breakfast shake ready it was already 10 am.  I was actually pretty hungry so I wolfed that down with several glasses of hot water.  As I’m trying to stay as caffeine free as possible and don’t have any decaf tea, that is what I’m resorting to.  To be frank, it doesn’t bother me at all, especially with a splash of lemon juice in it.  That dulled the headache a little bit so I figured it was just a case of dehydration from yesterday.

The late morning into the early afternoon was consumed with watching Wolf of Wall Street with a buddy.  My favorite part of going to the movies is the popcorn.  It’s almost like Pavlov’s dog with me.  I don’t care if it is just a small handful, I always have popcorn at the movies.  Generally it’s more like the medium container of popcorn, rather than just a handful, but I digress. Today it was none of it.  No popcorn whatsoever and no Coke Zero at all either.  Trying to fight off the dehydration I did get a large seltzer water.  Thank god they could do that with the fountain.  I’m not sure why it is many places can’t seem to figure out the simple ability to pour the fountain without the syrup, but it is what it is.

The movie was long but good and afterward we made a run to Chipotle for my standard Virgin Diet-approved Burrito Bowl.  That actually kept me quite stuffed until about 7pm when I really started to crave some dinner.  In the mean time my headache started building again and no amount of hydration was fixing it, nor did dinner.  It was pretty clear that I had contracted a very minor cold.  With that dinner was a big pile of delicious sushi from Hanamura, which had a great deal of omega-3 rich raw salmon in it.  I finished up with an apple for “dessert” and then went to bed early to see if I could sleep off the cold.
